This area is an OOC way for our members to have a bit of fun and earn Sickles while they are at it. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Neala Iver (Samm), the Shimmering Pond admin. She will do her best to help you out.
F.A.Q.'s
1. Is there actual money involved? - No. We do not require you to send us any payments or deposits, as Magical Hogwarts is a free site. Nor will you receive actual money in return for winning any of these games. We deal in 'Sickles' a currency created by J.K. Rowling, and which is completely virtual and can be used only on this site.
2. Do I need to be of legal age to play these games? - No. We will not check your ID or verify your age before you are eligible to play these games. All that we ask is that you be a sorted member of this board.
3. Are these games the only way to earn sickles? - No, you can also participate in other various offerings on the site, such as the Monthly Signature Contest (( See Avatars & Signatures for more information)), winning the Role Player of the Month contest ((voted on by members in announcements; contenders chosen by the administration)), Being Witch/Wizard Weekly ((also nominated by administrators and voted on in announcements)) or by opening an Hogwarts Official Shop ((See Apply for Shop Access)) and offering something to our members for a price. (Normally, it would be an Avatar/Signature shop, but custom poetry and dolls are among the unique ideas some of our members have come up with.)
4. Who makes these games and decides the rules? - Mainly the game mistress, that would be Neala Iver (Samm). She is also lucky enough to have the support of the other S.A.'s. The basic administration of The Shimmering Pond is her responsibility.
5. How are the winners announced? - For most games, i.e. the Celebrity Game and Lost in Google, the winners are posted in the game thread itself. Larger games, ones like the monthly game that has to be voted on, will be posted in announcements.
6. How do I get my sickles? - The sickles will be added to your existing Gringott's account either at the end of the round or game, depending on which game you play. Please do not PM Neala to ask her when your sickles will be paid. She has a system in order to keep everything organized. IMPORTANT: If you are not sorted then your answers will not count. If you do not have an open account under the name that you posted, you will not receive the sickles unless you indicate which account the sickles are to be paid. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Locate the celebrity whose picture is shown and the exact url of the pitcure shown, along with accomplishments.

Lost in Google
Locate the item in the picture shown and the exact url of said picture.
Prize: 55 Sickles
Hunt for the Golden Snitch
Locate the snitch hidden inside posts through out the site. Post the url of the thread.
Prize: 80 Sickles
Monthly Game
A different 'assignment' each month, voted on by the admins.
Prize: 100 Sickles (First place) 50 Sickles (Second place) 25 Sickles (Honorable Mentions)
The Lyric Game
Name the song title and artist of the lyric featured and receive sickles for it!

Guess that Character!
Guess the character based on the hints posted in the thread.

The Riddle Game
Answer the posted riddle correctly.
Prize: 5 to 50 Sickles, based on difficulty
What's In My Pocket?
