The Official Guide to Gringotts
Thank you for taking the time to read this infomercial about Magical Hogwarts current financial institution. Here you will find the basic general information that you need to know to effectively use the system and make it easier on the admins and yourself. Please read this carefully and only ask questions once you read the complete guide as some things will explain themselves as you read on.
Please feel free to come to the admins with any questions that you may have, any points you think this guide may have missed, or general comments or concerns.
What is Gringotts?
Gringotts, as with any other board of the 'Out Of School' section, is a part of the role playing game. It is not an Out of Character board as many may have been mislead to believe. Gringotts is a place where students can keep their accounts in the currency of Sickles. They can make small purchases and advance in year using the facilities provided.
Do I need any real money?
Gringotts is a part of the rpg. There will be no charge on your credit card and no cost associated with it whatsoever. Gringotts as well as any other part of Magical Hogwarts is free and will remain free. The board currency 'Sickles' is a virtual currency and is only valid within the Magical Hogwarts community.
How do I open an account at Gringotts?
Opening an account at Gringotts is a very simple process. Once you have found the TOPIC, simply post to have an Admin open the account for you. (NOTE) If you have multi-chars, please be sure to post under the name of which you want the account opened in.
How many Sickles do I get when I open an account?
Everyone who opens a new account receives 200 sickles. No more, no less.
How do I post a transaction?
To post a transaction to pay for an order, send a gift or whatever your pleasure, go to the THREAD and fill out the form, making sure that the one to whom you are sending the Sickles (as well as yourself) has an open account, you have enough in your current balance to pay for the transaction, and that you spell both names correctly. (Yes, including your own.)
How do I use the transaction form?
From: The name of the account from which the Sickles are to be withdrawn
To: The name of the account to which the Sickles are to be deposited
Amount: The number of sickles total
Note?: The REASON for the transaction
Examples of Transaction Forms
Correct:
From: Maire Dins
To: Justyne Jaracas
Amount: 250
Note?: Payment for the doll.
Incorrect:
From: Me
To: Justne Jarakas
Amount: 200; 50 (tip)
Note?: Gee golly, I sure do think yer perty.
Please note that all fields in the Transaction form must be filled in correctly to be able to post your transaction.
I am short of Sickles, how can I earn more?
One can earn sickles by participating in many of the various games and contests around M.H. There are a variety of different games offered, from the Lost in Google Game, the Celebrity Game and the Monthly Game ((See The Shimmering Pond for more information)) to the Signature Contest (( See Avatars & Signatures))
One can also earn sickles by opening an Hogwarts Official Shop (See Apply for Shop Access) and offering something to our members for a price. (Normally, it would be an Avatar/Signature shop, but custom poetry and dolls are among the unique ideas some of our members have come up with.)
Please remember that, while we allow multicharacters to have Gringotts accounts, we do not appreciate people making them solely for the purpose of attaining more sickles. If we have reason to believe you're doing this, we will suspend your rights to a Gringotts account on any new characters. Please do not abuse the system with your greed.
How can I buy posts?
You are no longer allowed to purchase posts.
Can I have more than one account per character?
No. Each character is only entitled to one account. Again: only one account per character. If you have multiple character you can have multiple accounts, but no more then one per character. Again: Please remember that, while we allow multicharacters to have Gringotts accounts, we do not appreciate people making them solely for the purpose of attaining more sickles. If we have reason to believe you're doing this, we will suspend your rights to a Gringotts account on any new characters. Please do not abuse the system with your greed.
How does the Account forum work?
The account forum is where all user accounts are. Normal members are not allowed to post in this forum. Only administrators may book your transactions and open your accounts. If you post in the account forum, your transactions will bounce.
Can I have all my multicharacters on one account?
No. Combined accounts make the booking of transactions more difficult for the Gringotts staff. There is also the problem that combined accounts make the purchase of magical items easier, which is unfair towards people without multichars.
Wait a minute, I have seen people with combined accounts!
Combined accounts are awarded to Magical Hogwarts administrators. While admins still have to pay the full price of magical items they are at liberty to purchase them for any of their multichars at any time given time, provided they have the correct amount of sickles. This is in place to facilitate plots on Magical Hogwarts. On rare occasion such combined accounts may be awarded to members who have proven exceptionally dedicated and responsible. Combined accounts come with their own individual set of rules:
- On creation of a new character no initial balance of 200 Sickles is awarded - Combined account holders are not supposed to participate in Shimmering Pond frequently. - In order to be considered for a combined account it is required to hold at least a four digit amount in one of the accounts to be merged. - Combined accounts can only be awarded by the Gringotts Main Admin or the Magical Hogwarts Main Admin
