[Announcement] Positions
« on: July 21, 2008, 05:47:27 AM »
In this thread you will find a list of any open teaching positions around the schools. Administrators will post when a new position has opened up, and it is your responsibility to post in this thread if you're interested in taking over the role.

Professors are given moderator privileges and should be played with the utmost responsibility. Each professor should be a graduate of the school they are teaching at, should be over the age of thirty, and should follow the rules of their school (ie; the right nationalities, no muggleborns without exceptional stories for Durmstrang, etc.) Professors are expected to keep their class lists up to date and to post in their classes once a week, as well as making new lessons once a month. For specific rules per school, get with an administrator on the school team such as Nik for Beauxbatons, Fee for Durmstrang, and Inga for Hogwarts. Julie will be available for questions on all schools should any of the aforementioned people be unavailable.

When applying for a position, make sure to include a sample of how you'll start your first lesson.

In order to help our Professors out when RL hits them and to keep the stress levels for everyone down a bit, we will be starting a substitute Professor program. There are several advantages to this, first being that our Professor characters can have someone take over a few classes while they are on vacation or something without worrying that they will lose the position. The admins will have someone to turn to when classes suddenly are without a teacher, other adults will be able to get valuable teaching experience and the students will get a variety of opinions and teaching styles. And last but not least: Subs will get paid for their work with bonuses for excellent classes and completion of classes.

If you are interested in becoming a substitute Professor, please fill out the information below. We will then put you into a list. Current Professors who know they will be away for a short period of time will then contact you when they need someone to cover their classes. However, admins may contact you to take over a class for a longer period of time. It all depends on the situation.

If you have any questions, post them here.

Thanks.
The Goblin Queen

Attention - Beauxbatons substitute updates!

Now that we only roleplay certain classes at Beauxbatons, our subs list is in need of some updates! If you were previously listed as a potential BB sub and find yourself removed from the list, this is because you were offering a subject or subjects that are no longer played out. Feel free to relist yourself if your character is able to substitute for one of the RPed subjects.

If you have a Beauxbatons graduate who would be interested in teaching a substitute class (and getting paid some nice sickles for it!) please fill out the form in the second post of this topic.

Thank you!

HOGWARTS is looking for SUBSTITUTES.

If you have an adult character of an appropriate age (i.e. not only just graduated) you can apply as a substitute. You can apply for all other classes taught at Hogwarts and we'll contact you when we need you.
Please take a look at the post about substitutes to find out how to apply.

If you have any questions you can send a PM my way.

Approval to apply 8/15~

Your name: Tristan
Character Name: Ilario Elmo Zezza
Character Age: 41 [Potentially 37, if too old, or if a plot does not work out]
Former House: Bellefeuille
N.E.W.T.s:
     Medicinal Studies: R
     Potions: R
     Herbology: R
     Wizard Literature: R
     Care of Magical Creatures: M
Defense Against The Dark Arts: M
     Transfiguration: S

Sample Lesson Post:
Disclaimer: I planned his first lesson, but I wrote this post like it would read as the first post of the thread, so it doesn't much reveal everything about the lesson itself.  Nonetheless, here you are.

On that fine morning, it seemed that Ilario was still grinning from the pleasant surprise at the new position that he had been so fortunate to obtain.  In the eyes of the older man, the best of both worlds had been made available to him.  Medical Studies was the shining light in Elmo’s tunnel of life, which was no doubt why he had made such a career out of it.  The subject was a perfect balance of all things Ilario.  Not only did it involve caring for other people, but it also created an enjoyable space for the otherwise academic subjects of Potions and Herbology to intermingle.  To put it quite simply, teaching Medical Studies was more of an enchanted fantasy than it was a chore with a paycheck.  And to top it all off, he was going to be teaching the subject to children.

Though he knew, in the back of his head, that none of his students would appreciate the title, Ilario understood, from experience, that true maturity wasn’t reached at the age of fifteen.  Yet that was perhaps the very reason that the old Mediwizard cherished his responsibilities.  His job was to encourage his students to glean information from every possible source and opportunity, and, as a respected member of his field and as a man of much more tangible skill, he had all the capabilities of giving his students said sources and opportunities.

Which was perhaps why he had decided that, in his opening lesson for Beauxbatons Acadamy, he would integrate a subject that would incorporate rudimentary thoughts into a modern setting, through a recently discovered and as-of-yet not widely known plant that was still going through the tests to determine it’s full potential for medicinal treatment.  The plant in question was growing in copious amounts at the back of his classroom, in a large aquarium behind his polished wood desk.

As the grandfather clock on the side of the classroom chimed the end of the first lesson of the day, Ilario was reminded of another happy fact, that his lesson was the second morning lesson, which meant that students were no longer groggy from having just woken up, and were not yet craving the lunchtime break.  The perfect time, to put it simply.  Moving about the room, Ilario paid close attention to all of the desks, to make sure that each table held the appropriate amount of each piece of equipment.

Had Ilario not spent the night before setting up his classroom, he might have found himself perturbed by the tiny squeaks that sprung up from each of the cages in the room.  Each one held two rats, each with pristine white fur, save its tail, feet, and face, and a removable glass wall that kept each rat from reaching its partner, which, from the looks of it, was the only thing that they wanted to do.

The lesson plan was an exciting one, though its apparent complexity seemed to hide its relative simplicity.  Ilario had done his best, however, to find a way to introduce the special herb to his students without forcing them to down a potion.  The last thing he wanted was for his first lesson to end in an issue of liability.  And now, as the squeaks continued, and the grandfather clock chimed it’s heavy head once again, the man calmed his nerves, and waited for the first smiling faces of the day.

For Transfiguration Professor
Your name/alias: Alison
Character Name: Mirielle Dupont (Name used in Beauxbatons’s Guide for Transfiguration Professor)
Character Age: 68
Former House: Papillonlisse
N.E.W.T.s: Transfiguration R
                Charms R
                DADA M
                Hypnosis M
                Wizarding Literature M
                Creative Arts & Music M
Sample Lesson Post:
Mirielle breezed into the airy classroom, her arms full of long wooden sticks. Dumping the large pile on her desk, she turned to examine the room. The desks all appeared to be in their perfect neat rows and the place seemed to be just as she had left it the night before. Smiling in satisfaction, Mirielle turned back to her desk, an array of sticks and papers spread out over it. As she clicked her tongue in response to the mess, Mirielle realised that this was what happened if she decided to leave her pupil’s homework and notes in neat piles and then throw objects down on top of them. A quick flick of her wand would tidy it though, but where had she put the damn thing? Patting down her usual purple work robes, the wand didn’t appear to be in any of the large pockets that her clothes possessed and Mirielle turned, looking around the room with pursed lips.

Had she left it in her office? No, not possible, she had had it on her less than a minute ago! Raising a hand, Mirielle ran it through her curly brown hair to check that her wand was not stuck into one of the corkscrew curls. It wasn’t, and neither was it behind her ears. Although, her glasses were on top of her head, it was good that she had found them. Mirielle always seemed to lose them, she wouldn’t have been surprised if they had legs, or wings. Letting a quick breath of air out her tight lips, she stood, hand on hip, gazing around the room. It would not do for her to lose her wand, class may as well be cancelled if the Professor couldn’t teach due to a missing wand. Maybe early retirement would be an easier option? The second the thought entered her head, Mirielle rejected it. She loved teaching, and she loved seeing children enthusiastic about her beloved subject.

Where in Merlin’s name was the stupid stick? Oh, wait, Mirielle thought, turning back to her desk. Yes, there were the sticks. Pulling her glasses down so that she could see the details, Mirielle quickly sifted through the twigs looking for the familiar one which had been her companion for nearly 60 years. There it was! Of course she had put her wand in the pupil’s equipment. Lucky that she had found it before someone attempted to transfigure it. Sighing at the fact that she was so scatterbrained sometimes, wand firmly in hand (if she let it go she might misplace it again) Mirielle pointed it at the desk and gave a quick flick of her wrist. The papers automatically rearranged themselves into neat piles and the sticks formed a separate stack. With her desk organised, another flick with the wand made the sticks shoot off the desk and fly onto the pupils’ desks.

Once a stick had appeared on each desk, Mirielle smiled smugly and turned towards the board. With a cleaning charm, she erased the last lesson’s notes and in her usual purple handwriting replaced it with a polite morning greeting

Good morning class!
Take a seat anywhere, preferably near the front.
There is a sharp stick on your desk, this is a knitting needle.
Do not poke each other’s eyes out with it otherwise you will fail transfiguration.

Once she had written her introductory message on the board, Mirielle seated herself at her own desk and pulled a pile of homework towards her. She may aswell do this as the pupils were arriving, no point in wasting time. It was a very limited resource after all.

((Since she's an NPC I've played her as if she's been at Beauxbatons for x number of years and not just starting her job there))
