Gringotts accounts will be created for you by an admin shortly after you are sorted. In the event that an account is not made for you, please PM any admin.
Yes. Each driver is permitted one Gringotts account, which you will use for all of your characters. After the initial 1000 sickles, you will not gain any more money when you add additional characters.
You can fit about 300,000 characters (spaces and code included) into one post.
No. Forum accounts are not able to use HTML coding. You may however take advantage of the Bulletin Board Coding (BBC) System. There is a help page available if you are unfamiliar with it.
Alternatively, MH uses a modification called "BBCode with Style" that mimics HTML in posts and allows members to use CSS styles and classes like HTML in BBC tags. You can now use the following attributes in posts as you would HTML:
All quidditch matches on Magical Hogwarts are played out in two threads, one reserved for the referee and the players and the other reserved for the commentator and the spectators. For more information, please review the quidditch rules for Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang. The game schedule for each school can also be found there.
A list of the current members of the administration team is posted in the Meet the Staff thread.
Near the top of the window, locate and hover over the 'Profile' button (next to Home, Help, Search, etc). From the drop down menu that appears, click 'Forum Profile.' Scroll down the page until you see the 'Signature' entry box. Copy and paste this piece of code and fill in with your image information.
Then click 'Change Profile' at the bottom of the page to save the changes.
Yes. The Model List is located in the sandbox board.
Plagiarism is when you take someone else's work and claim it as your own. This covers all aspects of creation that takes place on Magical Hogwarts (including, but not limited to, sheets, posts, graphics, etc.) Admin work as well as the work of your fellow members is included in this. As a general rule, do not copy or paste someone else's written work and claim it as your own. In addition, try to be as creative as possible when thinking up new styles for graphics and shippers so that your own personal style is represented in your creation.
If you are new to this and are having a hard time creating graphics, we have several resources available to you where you can find templates for character sheets as well as shippers.
Your character is considered a pureblood if ALL of his or her ancestors were also pureblood. Any combination of pureblood, halfblood, and/or muggleborn wizards in the history would make the character a halfblood. If both parents are muggles, then the wizard is a muggleborn. Please see the Blood Status Guide for more information.
Yes. Each new user account must also be registered with a different email address.
An adoption is when you play another person’s character and intend to keep this character permanently. The original creator of the character will relinquish all control and you will be responsible for the character’s sheet, design and role play posts.
Some characters offered for adoption may already have a sheet. This may have been made by the original creator (if the character isn’t played) or the previous driver (if the character existed before and is changing hands for one reason or another). As a general rule you are not required to rewrite the sheet. However, it needs to be resubmitted with a new role play response written by you.
Borrowing is taking over another person’s character for a certain period of time.
Borrowing creates unnecessary upheaval in the RP community. Aside from generating administrative effort for the sorting admins and Gringotts team, it also is confusing to the members and leads to instability in character. Borrowing usually leads to OOC and IC conflicts if the loaned character is not played according to the creator’s wishes. With that being said, borrowing is not allowed.
If you plan to go away for a while and are worried about your characters being deleted, please contact Mateusz Dąbrowski, or better yet just save your sheet to your hard drive. There is nothing stopping you from resubmitting a character after an extended leave.
In short, yes.
However, both twins must be played characters, where the twin sibling is played by a different driver. Twins will not be approved otherwise. Additionally, twins will not be approved as extra siblings unless both twins are played.
Also, this policy is the same for triplets/quadruplets/etc. All must be played by different drivers in order to be approved.
If you have any questions, please ask an admin.
Generally the administration responds to new sheets within 48 hours. Should you find yourself waiting longer, please BUMP your topic by replying to the thread with the word "bump." Please keep in mind that admins do have lives outside of MH and that we do our best to get to sheets as soon as we can.
Established Family Backgrounds, or EFBs, are a way for the administration to keep track of families on MH and their class status and occupation. All characters from pureblood families are required to submit an EFB for both sides of the family when they submit their sheet for sorting. If your character is a halfblood (where one side of the family is pureblood), you are required to submit an EFB for the pureblood side of the family. While you are not required to submit an EFB for halfblood lines, you are welcome to.
All characters who would like their character to be rich or influential must also submit an application for admin approval prior to submitting their EFB. This application can be found in the Rich / Influential Applications topic located in the Established Family Backgrounds board.
Once your EFB has been approved we ask that you only edit it to add in additional characters and connections. We ask that history alterations to EFBs be run by an admin or resubmitted for approval. Do not alter the colors or the EFB code in any way.
If you have any additional questions, please read through the Established Family Backgrounds Guide or post your question in the Questions & Answers forum.
In short, yes. However, alterations to your profile must be submitted for administrator approval. If you're planning to make big changes (such as changing your characters age by several years) you need to contact an administrator before making edits to ensure your plans can be accommodated. Smaller changes, such as height or hair color, can be edited straightaway. Once you've made the edits to your profile application, submit them for review via this thread.
In order to age your character, you must contact an administrator with a legitimate reason for aging the character. Once you've gotten approval for aging the character, revisions to your profile application must be submitted and approved via this thread.
Yes. An employment directory is available in the Established Family Backgrounds board with an updated list of the types of jobs that wizarding families on the board currently specialize in. The list is sorted by the status of the family and category of work for convenience.
The application for your character is contained within your account's profile page. You can access it by selecting Profile > Forum Profile from the menu bar, or by simply clicking here. On this page, go through and fill in the applicable fields, making sure to click the 'Change Profile' button at the bottom when you are finished or ready to take a break. This will save your work! When you are finished filling out the fields, head over to this topic to let the admin team know you're ready to be reviewed. Once you've posted in that thread, a team member will review your profile and let you know if there are any alterations to be made. After that, you will be approved and ready to roleplay!
If you would prefer to connect with other users and take some time to fill out your application, you are welcome to use the sandbox. Create a new topic on this board and use this application as a guide; it matches the fields you'll need to enter in your profile. The sandbox is an excellent place to make connections for your characters as well as to brainstorm your ideas.
